Important things to note about poster printing
- To print a poster, you must be a member of the Department of Zoology, or affiliated with the Biodiversity Research Center.
- Please submit your poster to us in PDF format. Powerpoint is acceptable for poster design, but powerpoint files tend to be inconsistent from one computer to the next.
- Posters print from a 42" (106.68cm) roll of either traditional paper, or matte plastic.
- Plastic is more robust to rough handling and well suited to travel, but posters printed on this media tend to fade faster. Plastic costs $7 more per poster than paper.
- If one of your poster's dimensions is exactly 42", it will be ready to use as soon as it leaves the printer, otherwise, you will have to cut your poster after it has been printed, and paper will be wasted. We can resize one of your dimensions at print-time to save you paper and time.
Lead time
- Submit your poster at least one full business day ahead of when you need it.
- If you will be submitting multiple posters, we will need more than one full business day's notice to print them. If you plan to submit a batch of posters, whether for a class, poster session or other reasons, let us know well in advance how many posters you plan to print, and when you need them by. We will let you know how many days lead-time will be required for printing.
- Last-minute prints: If one of us is available to do the printing setup, if the printer is not broken and we are not out of any needed supplies, and if you are not part of a big crowd headed for a conference, then it can take as few as 15 minutes to print a poster. But because of all the if's, at least a day in advance works best. If you know you will need a poster printed on short notice, please talk to us well in advance, so we can schedule an appropriate last-minute print time.
