Md Mahamudul Hasan Mredul

An ambitious and dedicated ecophysiologist with a passion for marine science and environmental research, I am currently doing my PhD at University of British Columbia, Canada. I hold a Joint MSc Degree in Marine Environment and Resources, a transformative experience facilitated by the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship from the European Union. This unique program took me across three prestigious institutions: the University of Basque Country (UPV/EHU, Spain), the University of Bordeaux (UBx, France), and the University of Liege (ULiege, Belgium).

During this enriching journey, I specialised in Advanced Oceanography and Coastal Zone Management at UBx, delved into Marine Environmental Monitoring and Ecosystem Health Protection at UPV/EHU, and explored Biodiversity Conservation and Management, along with Oceanic ecosystems, at ULiège. The International Course in Research in Marine Environment and Resources, coupled with the Stresso Field trip, allowed me to exchange ideas, apply my knowledge, and enhance my problem-solving abilities in diverse and challenging environments.

For my MSc thesis project, I conducted ecophysiology research at the University of Rostock in Germany. Focused on understanding how extreme environments, particularly hypoxia, influence the reproductive behaviour of blue mussels, my work encompassed aspects such as mitochondrial respiration, reactive oxygen species production, energy budget, and the role of mitochondrial DNA in withstanding hypoxic stress.

My academic journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Fisheries from Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh. Throughout my studies and dissertation program, I gained valuable experience in reproductive physiology, which I consider a cornerstone for my future career.
